Coming Up For Air

📖 < 1 minute

This summer was wild. And not the kind of wild that one might want the summer to be — there were no long hikes, no mornings by the lake, and no fun art festivals. Instead, I worked 12-hour days with few-if-any breaks due to a series of parental leaves within my teams. My oldest son was also diagnosed with a couple of disabilities, while my youngest has fallen behind with speech — so my weekends were full of parenting.

All of this is to say, my brushes gathered quite a bit of dust. I went for about two full MONTHS without touching my art supplies at all.

Fortunately, that changed recently when I took a trip to Spain with Judy Salleh and French Escapade!

It was a wonderful time, and I’m so glad to have gone. Painting daily was an incredible change of pace, and it was a fantastic opportunity to be a person again — and not just a mom and engineering manager.

Work will be quieting down a bit again, so I’m looking forward to regular painting and posting once more. I’ll do a quick recap of my Spain trip in the coming days here. I also have a couple of pigment comparisons to share, as I’ve been playing around with my palette quite a bit recently.

Thanks for following along! Looking forward to getting back into a smooth rhythm here again soon!
